Contaminated Site Diagnosis & Evaluation

Preliminary Assessment (Phase I ESA)

Phase I of the soil environmental assessment identifies the potential for contamination at the target site and adjacent sites.

Site History & Overview Investigation Review of documents, drawings, figures, records, etc. (current and historical)
Site Visit Survey Verification of contamination discharge, location of contaminating substances, storage conditions, topography and geological conditions of target site and surroundings, facility status, and suspected contamination situations
Stakeholder Interviews Interviews with site managers, nearby residents, responsible officials, etc.

Contamination Confirmation Investigation (Phase II ESA)

This phase confirms contamination at suspected contamination points and hazardous substance leakage areas identified in Phase I.

Preliminary Investigation Review Procedure to confirm contamination based on Phase I data
Sample Collection Collection of samples from potentially high contamination concentration points
Field Sample Screening Determination of contamination level using screening equipment
Sample Analysis QA/QC for accurate and reliable detection of contaminants

Contamination Prediction & Applicability Testing (RI/FS)

Remediation Investigation / Feasibility Studies
Based on Phase II results, this phase verifies optimal remediation technologies, predicts efficiency, and evaluates key design parameters needed for the remediation plan.

Work Plan Development Selection of sample collection points and implementation methods, presentation of theoretical basis for QA/QC methods
Remediation Investigation Presentation of remediation alternatives through modeling tailored to geological and environmental characteristics
Applicability Assessment Selection of suitable remediation alternatives appropriate for site characteristics and performance evaluation
RI/FS Process Image
